Just Jim Dale to open at the Vaudeville Theatre in May for limited run

Following his huge off-Broadway success, Jim Dale will bring his show Just Jim Dale to London’s West End in May this year.

Just Jim Dale opens at the Vaudeville Theatre on 28th May (previews from 26th May). Jim made his musical debut at the same theatre in the 1965 production of The Wayward WayJust Jim Dale will run for a limited season, concluding on 20th June 2015.

Jim Dale is one of the world’s great stage entertainers: singer, dancer, comedian, Shakespearean actor, raconteur.

In Just Jim Dale, Jim takes audiences on a journey through an unequalled career in the theatre with a myriad of irresistible showbiz tales, songs and performances – a career extending from performing as the youngest professional comedian on the British Music Hall stage, to joining the National Theatre at the request of Sir Laurence Olivier, starring in 11 Carry On films, his Broadway triumphs in Scapino, Barnum and Meand My Girl, and then his uproarious experiences narrating all seven Harry Potter audiobooks for the US market.

Candid, intimate and hilarious, Just Jim Dale is an unforgettable evening with consummate stage personality, encompassing stories from the vast breadth of Jim’s theatrical work, film roles and beloved songs, including The Colours of My Life, The Lambeth Walk and Georgy Girl.

Jim said: “It’s hard to believe that it will be 50 years since I made my West End debut at the Vaudeville Theatre, so I’m thrilled to be back with my own show. Stepping onto that stage again will be as comfortable to me as slipping into an old pair of jeans.”

Just Jim Dale is directed by Tony-Award winning director (and co-author of Miss Saigon) Richard Maltby Jr. Pianist Mark York completes the company.

The West End run is preceded by two shows in Northamptonshire at the Corby Cube on 11th and 12th April. The Corby Cube is less than 10 miles from Jim’s birthplace of Rothwell, Northamptonshire.

Theatre owner Nica Burns said: “I was so stunned by Jim Dale’s performance when I saw him in New York that I rushed backstage afterwards and begged him to come to London. This is a delightful gem of a show. Thirty performances only: don’t miss it!”

Tickets for Just Jim Dale go on sale at 9am on Friday 23rd January. Di And Viv And Rose runs at the Vaudeville Theatre until Saturday 23rd May 2015.
