It's 100% official: Cats extends until April & Kerry Ellis takes over as Grizabella!

It has (finally) be confirmed that Cats is extending its run at the London Palladium to 25th April 2015.

As previously reported, Kerry Ellis will join the cast to play Grizabella from 9th February 2015, taking over from Nicole Scherzinger who continues in the role until 7th February 2015 as previously announced.

There will be no performances on and between 2nd and 17th March 2015.

Based on T. S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, Cats returned to the West End last month with the original creative team - Director Trevor Nunn, Associate Director and Choreographer Gillian Lynne, Designer John Napier and Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber - reunited for the Palladium run.

Kerry Ellis recently reprised her performance as Elphaba in the West End production of Wicked. She was the first British actress to play the role and also starred in the Broadway production.

Ellis famously understudied Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady (National/Drury Lane) which was when she was spotted by Queen’s Brian May who invited her to audition for We Will Rock You. After creating the role of Meat in WWRY, Ellis and May have recorded albums and toured the world together.

Ellis' many theatre credits also include: Nancy in Oliver (Drury Lane), Fantine in Les Miserables (Queen’s), Ellen in Miss Saigon (UK Tour), Beth in War of the Worlds (World Arena Tour), Svetlana Sergievsky in Chess opposite Idina Menzel (Royal Albert Hall), West End Men (Vaudeville), Tell Me on a Sunday (RCCL) and Mimi in RENT (Concert Tour).

On just one special night of the year, all Jellicle cats meet at the Jellicle Ball where Old Deuteronomy, their wise and benevolent leader, makes the Jellicle choice and announces which of them will go up to The Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a whole new Jellicle life.
