GOSSIP: Kerry Ellis to take over as Grizabella in Cats at the London Palladium?

According to the Daily Mail, Kerry Ellis - aka the first lady of the West End - will take over as Grizabella in Cats from 9th February 2015. Nicole Scherzinger plays her final performance on 7th February.

UPDATE (03/01/15): Posters have reportedly been put up around London confirming that Ellis will star as Grizabella in Cats at the London Palladium from 9th February 2015. However, producers are yet to make an official announcement.

According to Terri Paddock, Cats will extend its run at the London Palladium to 25th April 2015. The musical will apparently take a two week break in March.

Ellis recently reprised her performance as Elphaba in the West End production of Wicked. She was the first British actress to play the role and also starred in the Broadway production.

Ellis famously understudied Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady (National/Drury Lane) which was when she was spotted by Queen’s Brian May who invited her to audition for We Will Rock You. After creating the role of Meat in WWRY, Ellis and May have recorded albums and toured the world together.

Ellis' many theatre credits also include: Nancy in Oliver (Drury Lane), Fantine in Les Miserables (Queen’s), Ellen in Miss Saigon (UK Tour), Beth in War of the Worlds (World Arena Tour), Svetlana Sergievsky in Chess opposite Idina Menzel (Royal Albert Hall), West End Men (Vaudeville), Tell Me on a Sunday (RCCL) and Mimi in RENT (Concert Tour).

Cats is currently booking until 28th February; however, this gossip implies it is likely to extend its run.

More soon...

This is yet to be confirmed by producers
