Anything Goes to tour next year following Christmas run in Sheffield

It has been announced that Anything Goes will embark on a UK and Ireland Tour next year.

Following its run at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield (28th November 2014 – 17th January 2015), the tour will open at the New Wimbledon Theatre on Thursday 29th January 2015. Casting will be announced shortly.

The production will be directed by Daniel Evans and choreographed by Alistair David. According to press material, "this brand new production of Cole Porter’s classic, multi-award winning musical comedy transports you to the magical age of tap dancing and high society". 

Rebecca Quigley, CEO of Stage Entertainment UK said: “I’m very excited to be working with Daniel and Alistair, whose work I have loved over the last ten years. They’re the perfect creative team to stage this hugely entertaining musical comedy.”

Daniel Evans, Sheffield Theatres’ Artistic Director, added: “It’s 80 years since Cole Porter’s exhilarating score arrived on Broadway and I’m truly delighted that this collaboration between Sheffield Theatres and Stage Entertainment will see our production perform right across the UK and Ireland.”

When Billy Crocker discovers that his heart’s desire, debutante heiress Hope Harcourt is engaged to an English aristocrat, he stows away aboard the S.S. American to win her back. Aided by a string of eccentric passengers on board the luxurious transatlantic liner, can this web of love be untangled before they reach Southampton?

This new production will showcase a live orchestra and a cast of 26. The score features 'I Get A Kick Out of You', 'You’re the Top', 'It’s De-Lovely' and 'Anything Goes'.

Anything Goes has music and lyrics by Cole Porter. The original book is by P.G. Wodehouse, Guy Bolton, Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. The new book is by Timothy Crouse and John Weidman.
