GOSSIP: Jamie Lloyd departs Back To The Future musical due to "amicable creative differences"

According to Baz Bamigboye, Jamie Lloyd will no longer direct the musical adaptation of Back to the Future. This is apparently due to "amicable creative differences".

The journalist suggests that Bob Gale, who wrote the 1985 film and its two sequels, will write his own Back To the Future musical script and then seek a director.

First workshops of the new show were due to be staged shortly with Roger Bart as Doc Brown, but now the production has apparently been pushed back to 2016.

Speaking to Bamigboye, Lloyd explained him leaving the project was "just a case of wanting to stand by my vision. You absolutely have to believe in it or there’s not much point."

Earlier this week it was announced that Lloyd will direct Assassins by Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman at the Menier Chocolate Factory this Christmas.
