What's not to love about a play which follows the contents of a fridge who reach melting point when they realise they are defrosting? Relationships are tested as temperatures rise in as As Told By's latest family friendly show.
I found myself genuinely intrigued and surprisingly engaged by this strong piece of theatre which captures the imaginations of children whilst providing plenty of laughs for their parents. The temperature themed dance break is cleverly put together and provides the highlight of the show. There are also opportunities for younger audience members, who sit on comfy beanbags throughout, to join in at various moments.
Some of the one-liners are spectacularly funny; I wasn't expecting to find myself in fits of laughter! The Tale of the Dastardly Defrost has all the ingredients of a classic kids show, but it is also relevant for 2014 audiences. I was impressed by the strong cast who bounce off each other well and bring a touch of spontaneity to proceedings.
Even if you don't have a child, borrow a friend’s kid for the afternoon so you have an excuse to catch this fantastically fun production!
