Wicked welcomes 6 millionth theatregoer & adds extra summer performances

Last night (Thursday 24th July) the West End production of Wicked welcomed its 6 millionth theatregoer to London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre. Owen Thomas attended the performance with Stephanie Willingham, both from Bury St. Edmonds, and enjoyed a backstage visit with the cast after the show.

Two extra shows have been added this summer. Extra 2.30pm matinees will be performed on Thursday 21st August and Thursday 28th August. Around the world, Wicked has already been seen by 42 million people in 13 countries and won 100 international awards.

Based on the international best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire that ingeniously re-imagined the stories and characters created by L. Frank Baum in ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’, Wicked tells the incredible untold story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two sorcery students. Their extraordinary adventures in Oz will ultimately see them fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

It was recently announced that Kerry Ellis, the original British Elphaba, will return to Wicked from Monday 4th August until Saturday 25th October 2014. Nikki Davis-Jones takes over as Elphaba in the West End production of Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre from Monday 27th October 2014.
