UPDATE: Further information has been announced. Please click here for further information.
The performer (now aged 22) will take on the role of 'Billy's Older Self' at the performance which is being broadcast live on Sunday 28th September 2014. George Maguire and James Lomas, the two other original Billys, will make a special appearance during the finale of the performance which will be shown in cinemas nationwide.
Speaking to Baz Bamigboye, director Stephen Daldry said: "I couldn’t resist asking if he would come back for one last turn. He was 11 when we first auditioned him. He was such a little one, but he has maintained his dance and now he’s proving, in early manhood, to be one of the great dance prodigies of his age. He danced the prince in Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake, which is appropriate because in the Billy Elliot film, that’s what Billy ends up doing."
It is claimed Daldry wants the performance to be a "real showbizzy event" with Elton John either introducing the show or making an appearance during the finale. West End legend Ruthie Henshall will lead the cast as Mrs Wilkinson alongside original cast member Ann Emery as Grandma.
