Louise Dearman stars in Marvin Hamlisch concert

It has been announced that West End star Louise Dearman (pictured right) will lead the cast of Hamlisch at the St James Theatre for two performances only.

Dearman is joined by: Christina Bennington, Michael Colbourne, Andy Conaghan, Cellen Chugg Jones, Emma Harrold, Rob Houchen, Claudia Kariuki, Laura Tebbutt, Laura Sillett and Joe Vetch.

Taking place in the main theatre at the St James at 3.30pm and 7.30pm on Sunday 24th August, Alex Parker is behind the concert which will showcase the music of the Oscar, Tony, Grammy, Emmy and Pulitzer prize-winning composer Marvin Hamlisch.

The show will feature songs from his musicals including ‘A Chorus Line’, ‘Sweet Smell Of Success’, ‘They’re Playing Our Song’, ‘The Nutty Professor’ and ‘Smile’, as well as music written especially for Barbra Streisand.

The cast will be accompanied by a twelve piece band. Hamlisch is staged by Alastair Knights with musical direction by Alex Parker and choreography by Racky Plews.

Louise Dearman, who recently starred in Water Babies at the Leicester Curve Theatre, is the first and only actress in the world to have played both Glinda and Elphaba in Wicked.

She is currently preparing to star as Lois Lane/Bianca in the BBC Proms production of Kiss Me, Kate at the Royal Albert Hall.

Her theatre credits also include: The Woman in Tell Me On A Sunday (RCCL International), Eva Peron in Evita (UK Tour), Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls (UK Tour), Hotbox Girl /cover Sarah Brown & Adelaide in Guys and Dolls (Piccadilly Theatre), Lucy in Jekyll and Hyde (UK Tour), Jan in Grease (Victoria Palace Theatre/UK Tour), Kiss Me Kate (Victoria Palace Theatre), Whistle Down The Wind (Churchill Theatre), Narrator in Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (UK Tour) and Grizabella in Cats (Cyprus).
