The Bush Theatre has announced appointment of Jon Gilchrist as Executive Director. Gilchrist takes up the role on 1st September working alongside Artistic Director Madani Younis.
Jon Gilchrist said: "It’s a real honour to be taking the position of Executive Director at the Bush at such an exciting time in the organisation's history. The Bush is at the forefront of British theatre, and the wonderful new building combined with the artistic vision of Madani Younis provide the perfect platform to celebrate new writing and develop fresh creative voices. I can't wait to start working with Madani, the board and the team."
Madani Younis said: "It's a great pleasure to welcome Jon Gilchrist to the Bush Theatre as our new Executive Director. Jon joins the theatre at an important moment of growth for the organisation, as we continue to invest in and nurture the plurality of voices writing a new chapter in the Bush Theatre’s history. I look forward to working with him to further cement the theatre’s place in its new home in Shepherds Bush and together shape the future growth of the organisation."
Jon Gilchrist is currently Marketing Director of The Lowry, Salford Quays – he has held the position since 2011 returning to the venue having been Marketing Executive from 2007 - 2008. As part of his remit, he directs the marketing, communications and media relations teams across a broad artistic and commercial programme. He also works as part of a six strong directorate at the venue developing strategy and policy for the organisation.
He previously worked for the Octagon Theatre, Bolton as Head of Communications, and had previous marketing roles at both The Dukes in Lancaster and Theatre by the Lake, Keswick.
Gilchrist takes over the role from Sian Alexander, who leaves the company to return to her freelance consultancy career.
