Following this morning's announcement that We Will Rock You will end its 12 year run at the Dominion Theatre on 31st May, The Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye has suggested that Motown The Musical will open at the theatre later this year or in early 2015.
Writing on Twitter, Baz said: "Motown The Musical will replace We Will Rock You at the Dominion late this year or early in 2015. Producers from Motown show looked around Dominion last year but waited for We Will Rock You to announce closing notice which it did Monday. Motown will have to sort out its book co-written by Berry Gordy before it heads to the Dominion."
General Manager of the Dominion Theatre, David Pearson has already confirmed that the Dominion will undergo restoration work before welcoming an "exciting new production in 2015.”
Motown The Musical is based on the true story of Motown founder Berry Gordy and his rise to fame as one of America's most influential music moguls. Directed by Charles Randolph-Wright (Dreamgirls), the show follows Gordy through the 1960s as he launches the careers of music legends like Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross and the Supremes, and Smokey Robinson and The Miracles. The score features 'Do You Love Me', 'My Girl', and 'You're All I Need To Get By'.
Nothing has been confirmed, Back To The Future and Newsies are among the other shows rumoured for the Dominion.
