The Leicester Curve Theatre will stage a new production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical The Sound of Music next Christmas. Directed by Paul Kerryson, The Sound of Music will open on 3rd December 2014 (previews from 28th November) and run until 17th January 2015.
Over the past five years Curve's Christmas shows have included critically acclaimed productions of Chicago, Hello, Dolly, The King and I and 42nd Street. Since the Academy Award-winning film of 1965, The Sound of Music remains one of the most popular musicals of all time. Set in the idyllic landscape of the Alps, this heart-warming tale follows spirited young nun Maria and her relationship with the Von Trapp family.
With a timeless score including Do-Re-Mi, Favourite Things and Climb Ev'ry Mountain, this global phenomenon continues to enchant audiences across the world. A production was staged last summer at the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre starring Charlotte Wakefield and Michael Xavier.
