So far this year huge commercial shows including The Book of Mormon, The Phantom of the Opera and the National Theatre's production of War Horse have picked up West End Frame Awards. But for the final West End Frame Award of 2013 we decided it was about time we celebrated and recognised London's fringe theatre.
2013 has been a very exciting year for a fringe. Many groundbreaking productions have been staged at West End standards, with all those involved working for very little or no money. The twelve nominated productions for 'London Fringe Production of the Year' are: Alice in Wonderland (St Paul’s Church), Another Way (Cockpit Theatre), Avenue Q (Upstairs at the Gatehouse), Bare (Union Theatre), Chess (Union Theatre), Cross Purpose (King's Head Theatre), Rent (Tabard Theatre), Rooms (Finborough Theatre), Sleeping Arrangements (Landor Theatre), The Play That Goes Wrong (Old Red Lion Theatre), Titanic (Southwark Playhouse) and [title of show] (Landor Theatre).
Voting for 'London Fringe Production of the Year' opened at 5pm on Tuesday 10th December and must close at 1pm on Thursday 19th December. 'Follow' us on Twitter and 'Like' us on Facebook for exclusive updates during the voting period and to be the first to find out when the result is announced on Friday 20th December. The result can be previewed until Monday 16th December.
'London Fringe Production of the Year' is part of the 2013 West End Frame Awards. Unlike other theatre awards, West End Frame only opens voting for one category at a time and combines male and female actors from musicals and plays into the same category. 'London Fringe Production of the Year' follows 'Best Dramatic Performance', 'Best West End Debut', 'Understudy of the Year', 'Best Performance of a Song in a Musical' and 'Best Jukebox Musical'. ReplyDeleteAvenue Q was amazing! Vote vote vote
ReplyDeleteTitanic is fantastic! Everything about it brilliant especially the direction by Tom Southerland.
ReplyDeleteAlice in Wonderland was soooo magical on a warm summer's night in central London, was just beautiful
ReplyDeleteAs a costume design student, will def be voting for Alice. The costumes were great and I loved the show
ReplyDeleteRent at the tabard deserved its place in the polls. A young cast maybe but the level of professionalism and truth within performances were muchly appreciated. Strong vocally and Emotionally! Greatly casted, directed and performed.
