This children's show is a truly imaginative piece delivering a wonderful message about the value of stories which should encourage reluctant young readers as well as reinforce the magic of books in those youngsters who already love to read.

The show started with some audience participation; the children were asked to name a place, a colour, a child's name and some animals. Michael Imerson then had just a couple of minutes to make up a story, which he did very imaginatively and successfully!

The story of the unicorn in a library is then told by Danyah and Michael who play various parts each. The set is simple, consisting of piles of books of all different shapes and sizes and many different topics. I loved the way many of the books contained surprises which were part of the story. Some of these were: pop-up houses, origami animals, rope, step ladder, and the most surprising was when a ukelele was plucked from a book which Michael then used to accompany his song. It reminded me of Mary Poppins' bottomless carpet bag!

Another lovely moment was the way a story within a story was depicted. You'll have to take your children to see the show to see this for themselves. They will surely be as enthral led as the young audience who watched the performance I saw.

Young audience members are asked to bring along a book which is handed in on arrival. At the end of the show they can take away any book of their choosing. Another imaginative twist to get children thinking and talking about books.
