It has been announced that The Sound Of Music has extended its run at the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre by one week. The production will now run until Saturday 14th September 2013.
Now in the third week of its run, and having already taken £1.75million at the box office, the show has become the highest grossing production in the history of the theatre.
Charlotte Wakefield has received critical acclaim for her portrayal of Maria. The 22-year old was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award in 2010 for her lead performance in Spring Awakening and has played Sophie in the International Tour and West End production of Mamma Mia!
The cast also includes Olivier Award nominee Michael Xavier as Captain von Trapp, Helen Hobson as Mother Abbess, Michael Matus as Max Detweiler, Caroline Keiff as Elsa Schraeder, Faye Brookes as Liesl and Joshua Tonks as Rolf Gruber.
"The Sound Of Music sits beautifully in the Regents Park Open Air Theatre, providing a truly magical experience. It is hard to fault a single aspect of this production which is a treat for the entire family. The Sound Of Music is a timeless piece of theatre and it would be impossible to see this production without smiling and toe tapping throughout." Andrew Tomlins, West End Frame.
