Nunsense A-men! is an all singing, all dancing off-Broadway musical. As I took my seat, the Landor was filled with excited audience members who have seen previous productions all over the world (there have been over 8,000 productions worldwide).

Starring Tim McArthur as his alter-ego Sister Mary McArthur, Nunsense follows a group of nuns (who are played by men) as they put on a fundraising concert. Why? Because the convent’s cook, Sister Julia, has  accidentally poisoned four of the nuns whose bodies are put in the freezer as the convent can't afford to give them a proper send off.

The backstory is a little irrelevant as the musical is just a good excuse for some guys to dress up as nuns, tell a few jokes and sing a few songs. It is outrageously good fun and, with both acts under an hour, goes by in a flash.

While a few of the musical numbers become slightly repetitive, overall Dan Goggin's score is upbeat and catchy with very witty lyrics. There are a few musical theatre references thrown in, which I loved, my favourite being a short burst of A Chorus Line.

The cast features five of the strongest character actors I have ever seen on a stage. The musical is great because each nun has their moment in the spotlight. The cast are hilarious but most importantly they are talented which prevents Nunsense from becoming a stupid mess.

Nunsense is the most light hearted show in London at the moment. If you want to have a fun night out, without a care in the world, Nunsense is the perfect show for you.
