Last Sunday I went to Shakespeare's Globe for the first time, something I have been meaning to do for some time! Although I had heard a lot about The Globe, I was a little unsure what to expect. The entrance and box office area is very modern and spacious, a complete contrast to the stunning historic theatre.
The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. While many people stand to watch the performance, I was sat in the middle balcony. The benches are fairly uncomfortable so hiring a cushion is advisable! Any theatre lover must see a production at The Globe, I have never experienced anything like it. Click here to read my review of Macbeth (which was breathtakingly brilliant).
On Tuesday evening I went to the London Coliseum, also for the first time. The Coliseum is beautiful and I couldn't believe I hadn't been there before. Unfortunately the show (Los Vivancos, seven flamenco dancing brothers) became extremely dull and repetitive, if it wasn't for the amazing theatre the evening would have been a disaster. You can read my review of Los Vivancos by clicking here.
Before seeing Los Vivancos I caught a sneaky matinee performance of Top Hat. After it was announced that the musical will close in October I knew that I had to see it one more time, especially as I hadn't yet seen the new cast. I loved the show just as much second time round. Even though Top Hat is a new musical, the production feels like a timeless classic.

Broadway stars Gavin Lee and Kristen Beth Williams lead the cast with class, they are both extremely talented triple threats! In fact, most of the cast are. I will be sad to see the show close in October, with no Top Hat or Singin' in the Rain the West End will be in desperate need of a new old-school, dance-filled musical.
Finally, a few weeks ago we asked the question "If you could combine two musicals to create a super musical, which two would you choose?!" via the West End Frame Twitter account. Some of your replies were genius! My favourite suggestion has to be the idea of combining The Book of Mormon with Wicked. I love the idea of Elphaba and Glinda performing You and Me (But Mostly Me) and Elder Price and Elder Cunningham performing For Good.
Other popular ideas included a We Will Rock You and Rock Of Ages mash-up, Cats merged with West Side Story, as well as Phantom of the Opera mixed with Les Miserables! Someone also Tweeted us with details regarding a show in another country which combines two musicals (one being The Rocky Horror Show). Irritatingly I've lost the link and can't find the Tweet so if you have any more info please comment below or get in touch via Twitter!
