The Southwark Playhouse have been forced to cancel their inaugural production at the venue's new Elephant and Castle home due to the leading actress injuring herself.
A statement on the theatre's website reads "During a performance of Tanzi Libre at Southwark Playhouse in its opening week, the lead actress unfortunately suffered an injury and had to be taken to hospital. Although she is now recovering, she is not fit enough to continue with the rest of the run. It is with great regret that due to the complex nature of the role and the lack of time and resources to train someone new, Southwark Playhouse has no choice but to cancel all remaining performances."
This means that booking is now closed and all patrons who have purchased tickets have been informed.
Such sad news. Thought with cast, crew and creatives. Wishing the actress a speedy recovery.
