Tom Dale Company for UK Tour

Tom Dale
Tom Dale Company, based in Nottingham and resident company at Dance4, hugely popular at the Edinburgh Fringe and beyond, is fast gaining a reputation for creating innovative dance performances that combine the thrill of exhilarating contemporary dance with digital technology and original music. In March and April Tom Dale Company will tour Refugees of the Septic Heart, a hotly tipped collaboration between choreographer and dancer Tom Dale and digital artist Barret Hodgson who recently enjoyed international success and critical acclaim with their production I Infinite.

Refugees will be performed to an original score by prodigious composer and producer Shackleton, a distinctive figure on the vast dub/dubstep/techno scene, and collaborator Vengeance Tenfold with images by digital artist Barret Hodgson. Refugees of the Septic Heart is described by Tom as ‘reflecting the heartbeat of a nation as it perches on the brink of change’; an absorbing work of gritty physicality, Refugees promises to build on the praise for previous productions which have been described as ‘powerful’, ‘continuously inventive’, ‘compelling’ and ‘exhilaratingly beautiful’. Gritty physicality, enthralling urban sounds and inventive animation techniques will surround the spirited dance vocabulary of TDC’s six dancers.

Tom Dale says "This piece has been waiting to be made since Shackleton offered the first music ideas three years ago. We’ve now found the right group of people, cast and collaborators to make it happen. It’s great to be working with Barret again on a new project; we can't wait to realise this vision and bring this piece to life and to find out where the refugees of the septic heart are going.”

Refugees of the Septic Heart will be performed by Michael Kelland, Ariadna Girones Mata, Maria Olga Palliani, John Ross, Joshua Smith and Hugh Stainer.

Commissioned by DanceXchange and supported by Curve, Leicester, Lakeside Arts Centre, Deda, Laban Theatre and using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
