Chita! / And Now I Sing!
Chita Rivera
Stage Door Records

Stage Door records have released Chita Rivera's debut solo albums Chita! and And Now I Sing! on one CD for the first time since they were recorded and released in the 1960s. Every single track on both albums showcases Chita's versatile, timeless voice. Chita sings with an extremely distinctive style which is consistent throughout both albums.
The first track on Chita!, Ten Cents A Dance, is beautifully orchestrated and has a nice gentle build up, eventually become incredibly catchy. But it is the album's second song, The Lady's In Love With You (from Some Like It Hot) which stands out as my favourite song. It's one of those songs you will find yourself humming later in the day without realising! Love, Look Away is hauntingly enchanting and the second Get Me To The Church starts playing you cannot help but tap your feet and sing along to the iconic song from My Fair Lady.
And Now I Sing! is very similar to Chita! although it has more of an intimate feel to it as some of the songs are slightly stripped back, but the overall style is still the same. I Hear Music is a fantastic introduction to the album. The simplicity of There Is Nothing To Say But Goodbye is stunning and becomes very emotional. My favourite track on the album has to be Moon River from Breakfast At Tiffany's. So many artists have released versions of Moon River bit Chita sings the song the way it should be sung. Her voice is unbelievably expressive. Finally, Lonesome Road is very uplifting, ending the journey of Chita's wonderful second album.
Chita! and And Now I Sing! are both very easygoing. albums. You will feel nostalgic, enchanted and very uplifted after just one listen. Please visit www.stagedoorrecords.com for more information and to purchase the CD.
