Samantha Womack and her actor husband Mark Womack will appear onstage together for the first time in the world premiere of Scot Williams' Hope at Liverpool's Royal Court Theatre. It begins performances from 6th March 2013 with an official opening on 7th March. The play will run until 23rd March 2013.
They will join playwright Williams, who also directs, and Rene Zagger in the cast. The play, which is described as a darkly comic love story wrapped within a psychological thriller, revolves around a character called Hope (to be played by Samantha Womack), who is a lodger with Norm, an aspiring author suffering from chronic writer's block, and Guy, his meddling roommate. And Victor is the slippery snake who slithers his way into their world.
Samantha Womack said, "Hope is a beautifully written play with four powerful characters that are as funny as they are disturbing. It's wonderful to be acting opposite Mark on stage for the first time, not just because he is my husband which adds an extra edge, but also because it's his and Scot's birth city and Liverpool always feels like home to me."
Samantha Womack was most recently seen in South Pacific at the Barbican Theatre and UK tour. From 2007 to 2011 she appeared as Ronnie Mitchell in BBC1's "EastEnders".
Mark Womack was seen in BBC1's "Good Cop." Other credits include "Route Irish," "Murphy's Law" and "The Runaway."
