The Phantom of the Opera has won over 60 major theatre awards, including seven Tonys on Broadway and three Olivier Awards in the West End. It won the ‘Most Popular Musical Audience Award’, voted by the public, in the 2002 Laurence Olivier Awards. The show opened at Her Majesty’s Theatre on 9 October 1986 starred Michael Crawford as ‘The Phantom’ and Sarah Brightman as ‘Christine.’ It is produced by Cameron Mackintosh by arrangement with The Really Useful Group.

The show is currently in the middle of its current UK tour. Upcoming stops on the tour include Milton Keynes, Cardiff, Southampton, Liverpool and Birmingham. The tour stars Earl Carpenter as 'The Phantom' and Katie Hall as 'Christine'.

Simon Bailey stars as ‘Raoul’, Angela M. Caesar as ‘Carlotta’, Andy Hockley as ‘Monsieur Firmin’, Simon Green as ‘Monsieur Andre’, Elizabeth Marsh as ‘Madame Giry’, Vincent Pirillo as ‘Ubaldo Piangi’, Hannah Cadec as ‘Meg Giry’ and Olivia Brereton as ‘Christine’ at certain performances.

One of West End Frame's readers, Gary, recently saw the tour and wrote to us with his thoughts which he kindly agreed could be published:

"The anniversary tour production is amazing. Apart from the score and lyrics everything is different in a good way. It took me a small while to understand and get used to a different set, but it is spectacular... plus the Phantom dances! The cast were excellent. Simon Bailey, who plays Raoul, is just as wonderful as the first time I saw him play the part in London and Earl Carpenter as the Phantom is just fantastic.

I was very surprised with some of what happened, blink and you could miss bouquets hanging and the illusion at the end is stunning. Well done to all cast, crew and creatives."
