Liam Neeson, Gary Barlow and Joss Stone will all appear on a new recording of War of the Worlds, which embarks on a new arena tour later this year. Gary Barlow and Joss Stone lead the vocals on the record, which is released 12th November 2012, while Liam Neeson takes the role of the Narrator. The Narrator was originally voiced by Richard Burton on Jeff Wayne's original 1978 concept album.
The musical is based on HG Wells' story about an alien invasion of Victorian England. The new production will feature Liam Neeson as a 3D hologram character which will interact with the live performers on stage.
Gary Barlow, who will sing "Forever Autumn" and "The Eve of the War" on the new album, wrote about the new project on Twitter. He said "I'm honoured to be a guest on The War of the Worlds record. I've always loved this album and I'm the biggest fan of its creator Jeff Wayne."
War of the Worlds - The New Generation opens at the Liverpool Echo Arena on 1 December 2012, subsequently visiting Cardiff, Nottingham, London (Wembley Arena – 6 December), Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Newcastle, Glasgow, Bournemouth, London (O2 Arena – 15 December) and Brighton.
War Of The Worlds? Remake? Garry Barlow? F*ck Off! Get Real Mate! Jeff Wayne's masterpiece doesn't belong in the hands of twats like Barlow and co. Can't stand this tit! Why the hell would anyone want to re-do this brilliant piece of music? They will not do it any better than the original, even with Lloyd Webber in the driving seat! Next thing you know, Robbie Williams will be in on the act! Oh my God, why do folk have to screw things up that are already brilliant? Do not f*ck with perfection!
