According to the Daily Mail, Alexandra Burke will take over from Beverley Knight in The Bodyguard at the Adelphi Theatre from 2nd June 2014. Knight previously announced that she would end her run as Rachel Marron on Saturday 31st May 2014.
According to Baz Bamigboye, Burke has been taking acting lessons. Producer David Ian said: "We saw her, and our creative team met her, and she was fabulous and knocked the songs out of the park."
He apparently told Baz that he considered moving the production to the Aldwych Theatre, but the theatre has 350 fewer seats than the Adelphi which would have caused problems. The show is likely to close in the West End on Saturday 30th August 2014 before a tour kicks off in Manchester in August 2015.
