Sean Foley to direct new production of Around the World in Eighty Days next year in London prior to US Tour

Set to open from June - August next year, it has been announced that a new production of Around the World in Eighty Days will premiere in ‘The Pavilion’ within the environs of The O2.

Created by Matthew Churchill Productions and adapted from Jules Verne’s literary classic, the production will run for 11 weeks. This will be the only London run prior to the show and its pavilion moving to California to begin a three year, 19 city US tour. Around the World in Eighty Days  will be directed by Sean Foley and is performed in its own pavilion, from the team that created the Chichester Theatre in the Park tent.

Once inside, audiences will be swept away on an amazing adventure and experience a true multi-media marvel featuring a 360 degree dome the size of 10 IMAX screens, a hot air balloon flying above you and a 20 foot high steam-powered elephant.

Join the eccentric Englishman Phileas Fogg and his trusty servant Passepartout as they race by boat, train, hot air balloon and elephant in a bid to get around the world in eighty days. Will the mountains, jungles and oceans of our wondrous planet defeat them? Will Fogg win his wager or become a ruined man? And exactly where does love figure in this incredible adventure? Most importantly, will Passepartout ever be able to boil Fogg’s egg for exactly 204 seconds?!

Sean Foley most recently directed the West End productions of Perfect Nonsense starring Stephen Mangan and Matthew Macfadyen and The Ladykillers. Prior to working on Around the World in Eighty Days, he will direct the X Factor musical 'I Can’t Sing!' at the London Palladium.
