Sneak peek at... Keeler at the Charing Cross Theatre

Official production photos have been released for Keeler. Gill Adams' play about the inside story of the ‘Profumo Affair’, based on the book The Truth at Last by Christine Keeler and Douglas Thompson, officially opens at the Charing Cross Theatre tonight (Wednesday 6th November).

In 1963, the Secretary of State for War, John 'Jack' Profumo, was forced to resign after it was established that he had lied to Parliament about the nature of his relationship with a young showgirl, Christine Keeler. She was also involved with a Russian spy during her affair with the Secretary of State. The ensuing scandal was in part responsible for the resignation of the Prime Minister, Harold Macmillan, and the suicide of the man who introduced Keeler to Profumo, Stephen Ward.

The cast features Paul Nicholas as Stephen Ward, Sarah Armstrong as Christine Keeler with Stacey Leeson (Mandy Rice Davies), Alex Dower (Eugene Ivanov), Michael Good (John Profumo), Andrew Harrison (Lord Astor), Marcus Adolphy (Lucky Gordon), Hannah Jordan (Doris), Carina Birrell (Lady P), Stephen Joseph (Lord Tubbs).

Keeler runs at the Charing Cross Theatre until 14th December 2013.

  1. I remember this affair very well The victim has been said to be Stephen Ward. But in my book, the real victim was VALERIE HOBSON the ladylike wife of John Profumo.
