Never in a million years did I ever think I would find myself writing The Nutcracker On Ice, Keith Chegwin and The London Palladium in the same sentence. Yet here we are! I must admit, I wasn't too sure what to expect, but was delighted to discover that this production provides an enchanting, magical and (dare I mention this word in October) Christmassy evening at one of London's most prestigious theatres.

The Nutcracker On Ice will capture the imaginations of children, parents and grandparents alike. I cannot think of a better pre-seasonal treat. For a couple of hours The Imperial Ice Stars allow you to forget about the miserable weather and to be taken on a magical journey.

Keith Chegwin's part is reasonably small yet he is given the opportunity to show off his newly found skating talents. He can start and stop at the right time and seemingly glides across the ice effortlessly. Although one slight mishap, which saw Chegwin fly on stage a moment too early forcing a hand to appear from backstage, dragging him back into the wings, left me in hysterics for several minutes.

Not only is the talent of the performers out of this world, but the costumes are eye catching, the set is dazzling and a couple of impressive magic tricks are thrown in along the way. Even if seeing a show such as The Nutcracker wouldn't normally be your thing, seeing such a special show at such an historic theatre like the London Palladium is an experience which will stay with you for the rest of your life.
