Nigel Harman & Cynthia Erivo to star in I Can't Sing The Musical

The Daily Mail has announced that Nigel Harman and Cynthia Erivo will star in the upcoming X Factor Musical called 'I Can't Sing The Musical'. The musical will begin previews at the London Palladium on 27th February 2014. Nigel Harman has been cast as Simon Cowell while Cynthia Erivo will star as X Factor contestant Chenice.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Simon Cowell said: "The hardest thing was: how do you find someone who’s good-looking, talented and can look like me? And then we found Nigel!". Harry Hill has written the show which is named after one of the musical numbers.

Last year Nigel Harman won an Olivier Award for his hilarious portrayal of Lord Farquaad in Shrek The Musical at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Cynthia Erivo is currently starring in the sold out, UK Premiere of The Color Purple at the Menier Chocolate Factory. Click here to read our recent interview with Cynthia.

The story centres around Chenice, who lives in an ITV blackspot because her Grandad's iron lung interferes with the signal in her caravan, and the only girl in the world who has never heard of The X Factor. When she accidentally stumbles into the audition queue with her talking dog, she starts a journey to both stardom and love. Along the way, "she's joined by contestants with vastly varying degrees of ability, some judges you might well recognise and Max, a handsome ukulele playing plumber and part time eco-warrior."
