Review: The Improvised Musical at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival

The Improvised Musical
2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival
C Venues
Performance: Friday 24th August 2012

The Improvised Musical explains itself as a completely original musical each night based on audience suggestions. Hilarious and unpredictable, The Improvised Musical promises to surprise everyone. The performers will create extraordinary characters and weave them into a comical and unexpected story, where the actors themselves may be unable to predict the ending! In true musical theatre fashion, actors may break into song at any moment and the talented live band will join them to spontaneously write a brand new musical number.

The Improvised Musical is a wonderful show and is something everyone should experience. It's exciting walking into a venue and literally not having a clue what you are about to see. This is the second piece of improvised theatre I have witnessed. I previously saw Music Box: The Improvised Musical which I didn't enjoy due to the fact the actors could not sing and it became awkward to watch. However this was a completely different story! All the actors were strong singers and extremely talented comedy actors.

The performance I saw was named 'The Human Laminator', starting at a Zumba class and featuring the song 'Just Give Me The Hamster'. I do not know how the cast managed improvise this show but they did it and it was amazing! Make sure you see this show while you can - it is different to anything else you have ever seen before!
