Review: Cluedo at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Cluedo
2012 Edinburgh Fringe Festival
Quaker Meeting House
Performance: Thursday 23rd August 2012

This show is very straight forward - the title says it all. When arriving at the Quaker Meeting House you would not guess there is a little theatre tucked away on the first floor, and what a lovely little theatre it is!

Cluedo starts well, the first big opening number was extremely effective and showcased the cast at their best. My only problem with Cluedo is that the running time could easily be cut in half as it seemed to go on... and on... and on. However only 1 audience member walked out half way through the performance.

I loved all the musical numbers and thought they had been cleverly adapted to fit in with the story. The majority of the cast had strong voices however a few did seem to struggle. I also felt some of the actors went too over the top and crossed the line from being funny to silly. The young actress who played Miss Scarlett stood out for me. She was an extremely talented young actress with stunning vocals.

Overall the show is OK and shouldn't be avoided.

    2. We thoroughly enjoyed the show and considering they are all six form students the standard of performance was excellent.

    1. Hello There Anonymous,

I do know quite a lot about theatre however this review is just my opinion. I am sure some people loved this show and from reading these comments, and having a look on Twitter, I can see I wasn't the only person who didn't enjoy it.

To me that is the magic of theatre - it is completely subjective and can mean something different to everyone. While I completely respect the fact that you obviously loved the show please respect the fact that I didn't.

      Regards
