Lauren Samuels returning to We Will Rock You as Scaramouche from Wednesday 1st August 2012

Lauren Samuels has just announced on Twitter that she will be returning to the West End production of We Will Rock You to play Scaramouche. She takes over from Sarah French who has already departed from the show.

Lauren excitedly tweeted 'SO excited to announce I will be returning to We Will Rock You London in two weeks time to play Scaramouche again!!'

Sarah French previously announced her departure from the show on 13th July 2012 via Twitter. She told fans 'Hi everyone its time to tell, I have decided to leave WWRY I just want to be a mummy for now! Thanks for everyone's surpport xx'.

I think it is fantastic that Lauren is returning to the role as she shows us a different side of Scaramouche. This also gives her longer to explore the role as her previous run was short due to the fact she was maternity cover for Sarah French.

Lauren previously played Scaramouche from October 2011 - April 2012. Previously she came 3rd in Andrew Lloyd Webber's search to find a Dorothy to star in The Wizard Of Oz and played Sandy in the West End production of Grease. Since leaving We Will Rock You she starred in Vampirette the Musical at the Manchester Opera House and appeared on The In-Between Concept album. Lauren recently came second in poll for 'Best Performance Of A Song In A Musical' for her performance of 'Somebody To Love' in We Will Rock You. Lauren Varnham, who recently came 3rd in 'West End Frame's Understudy Of The Year 2012' will continue to play Scaramouche until Lauren Samuels takes over. Lauren Samuels will stay in the role for at least 2 months.

We Will Rock You recently announced a world arena tour!

    1. She's only signed up for 2 months which means she could still have got Elphaba!
